Community School Information

WHAT IS A COMMUNITY SCHOOL?

A Community School brings together the school, families, students, educators, and community partners to identify needs, build on community strengths, and connect families with resources and opportunities that support student success.  Community Schools focus on the whole child. This may include academic support, family engagement, health and wellness resources, enrichment opportunities, social-emotional supports, and connections to community services.

Baltimore County Public Schools describes the role of a Community School Facilitator as helping create a welcoming and inclusive school environment, connecting families with community resources, developing partnerships, and coordinating supports that contribute to student success.

Our Community School Vision

When schools, families, students, and community partners work together, we can create stronger supports and greater opportunities for every child.

Our Community School work is designed to:

  • Strengthen partnerships among families, educators, students, and community organizations.
  • Connect families with helpful resources and services.
  • Expand opportunities for student learning and enrichment.
  • Promote student well-being and healthy development.
  • Give families and community members meaningful opportunities to share their voice.
  • Build a welcoming, inclusive, and supportive school community.

Your voice matters! Families are important partners in identifying needs, shaping priorities, and strengthening our school community.
TOGETHER, WE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE!

Family + School + Community = Student Success
