Summer Reading Challenge 2018

As part of the BCPS/BCPL "Students Achieve in Libraries" (SAIL) partnership, Summer Reading is a collaborative effort between Baltimore County Public Library branches and BCPS school libraries to promote reading as a life-long habit and a key to literacy and academic success. Encouraging students to continue reading during the summer months can prevent "summer slide" reading loss as reported in Scholastic's Kids & Families Reading Report: Key Facts About Summer Reading.  Access to reading materials over the summer is especially crucial students in low income families.  Summer circulation of school library materials is an expected practice to ensure equitable access and literacy for all students.

The Church Lane Elementary Library will be open for students on Wednesdays during July and August, from 11:00am to 1:00pm. Mr. Foster will be in the library to assist students in finding and checking out books on these days. Any library books may be returned during the week to the front office and placed in the black milk carton.
